KDF/Fed: Fleet Routines

2618, Beta Quadrant.

The ship had left Khittomer, and was on it’s way to New Romulus. There was some discussion as to whether or not supplies needed to be delivered to Qo’Nos Praxis Beta, but mongDech Generals Zune and Slish had recently upgraded Beta’s supply line.
“Klingaformation is nearly complete there,” said Gaardox.
“I mean, you guys are pretty thorough…It’s not like the bureaucratic complexity surrounding Martian efforts to that effect!” Said Gen./Ad. Allen.
“HaH! If only we were limited to such effects!” Gaardox could usually appreciate Allen’s humor. “All I can wonder is that it takes you so long to command the H’Atori sector’s joint fleet alliance orbital command center, you were quite busy with deep space proxy.”
“I only served a few months before my assignment was approved.”
“Exactly, just as we hoped, you bring Glory to the Revolution Allen!!!”
“HeH! As far as anyone is to ascertain what you are insinuating is highly classified information, and in no way whatsoever could I have possibly brought glory to anything at all!”
“Let’s not now be moribund, Allen. You honor us all.” True enough, deep space first contact on the fringe edges of the galaxy, the Mirror Universe, Fluidic Space, and other vectors to research composite similarities between systemic vectors, were indeed classified missions, and yet still was no reason to become forlorn." What began as fleet rotations to bring the Beta Ursa Minorans closer to current methodologies relative to joint fleet operations, begat a theory that the mongDech had considered. Allen’s visage of first contact missions would become a larger schematic. Having taken considerable time with that, ten years later, with two years of accumulative civilian activities, the Klingon Defence Force/United Federation of Planets space station was of course a good place for Allen and his crew to catch up with things. But that wasn’t all. Allen has a personal fleet, and they in turn helped him to accrue the new found knowledge that his proxy mission bestowed. The ‘House of Allen,’ now patrolled, chaperoned, championed, and controlled fleet systemic relative to the station.
“I cannot find Anne,” said Gaardox.
“HaHAHaHeHeH! Nooo! Old man, where is she? I’m not tellin’” Responded Gen/Ad Allen.
“Perhaps she is paraphasically transfixed in orbit around H’Atori Beta? Or maybe utilizing a trans-fluxuation of transphasic cloaking? In deeep orbit around the station, secretly observing, secretly taking long-range scans…Perhaps she is monitoring remotely from another vector such as fluidic space! I don’t know.”
“Riiiiiight Gaaardox, who knows man? I sure don’t”
“It’s a mystery!”
“No, I told them what to do, it’s up to them to fulfill the mission.”
“Exactly, if they told you that they were using approximation theory to disengage with the space-time continuum, then there would be no way to know which exacting scientific cloaking they would use to complete orbital surveillance of the station!”
“Ah, yeah, that would be true, I guess.”
“You guess. A postulate. Hmmm, intriguing.” Creating challenges in normative missions was a healthy, if sometimes partially at least, risky measure. Allen and Gaardox weren’t commanders known to lighten the load, and the crew would be quite anxious to pursue technical inventiveness, given their mandatory rest period of two years had recently passed. They weren’t quite up to speed again, but they will be quick to gain new ground in the effort.
That said, Gaardox was in a regular rotation. Should he be called away for a tactical emergency, or possibly a diplomatic or scientific/engineering one…that could be more interesting. So being routine, Gaardox booked quality entertainers, musicians, playwrights, councilors, physical trainers, tactical trainers, a full cadre of engineering, medical, and science experts to keep the crew active in the doldrums of a regular trade excursion. Allen’s tactic of juxtapositioning a smaller, older Federation space frigate from the 22nd C. that’s fully compensated with every known or possible technological nuance of 26th C. augmentation…yet giving the appearance and nonchalance of an initializing, more cavalier and exploratory vessel… Given the demands of out bound reconnaissance, this is indeed a mongDech tactic, one that favors the space station defenses, the mongDech treaties and diplomacy, and also no less important to KDF/Federation commitments.
“You’re thinking of Mortog again.”
“Somewhat, it’s his tactic.”
“He was mongDech, eventually.”
“And we are among Drex as well, so honored by he and HIS house, and of Gowron no less. Kmpec… Diplomatic systemics are relative to our alliances.”
“Jmpoc…” Allen wavered with some sense of honorification, an atonement to efforts in mutual aid, cooperation, and transxenological analysis.
“We have on-going compliance, and they us.” Allen and Gaardox discuss fleet routines and maintenance, both personal and fleet related, they are interrupted by Narrendra/Martia Engineering.
“What Horg?!” Allen had made the communications transfer. Horg offered re-pause.
“If the transfluxuating redundancy matrix has no benign counterparts, and all rerouting and relative redundancies are compliant, then aren’t those systems at times benign … perhaps my Terran isn’t well enough, they are looking at the possibility of future counterparts with three main core and six redundancies…”
“If the ship is three times larger…” Gaardox intones.
“We’ll get there, active analysis on the Daedalus and those prototypes are ongoing.” Allen doesn’t want to diffuse the issue regarding larger new ship-types for longer deployment existentiality.
“Yet if all energy transference is systemic then two cores with at least three redundancy cores-LaForge already agrees with me!”
“Don’t let them bother you Horg!” Gaardox consoles his brother.
“Hooo-org!” Allen is full of amusement. And such as it is-is the frustration of joint fleet engineering.
“Where is D’Tan?” The older mongDech brother decides upon the rank and file of diplomacy as a solution.
“Darzen Zentron is working with you then?” Allen find a diplomatic approach to create non- rapprochement to Gaardox’s tactic, of course a mongDech would understand this, even if essentially it is the same tactic.
“Paris, Data, Rev, Paris/Torres, O’Brian, Nog brother of Quark…”
“The Vulcan…?”
“He is here, yes!” Long range transmissions hadn’t been such a source of strain for the two brothers for quite some time. This wasn’t a Klingon civil war, or a fight against the Gorn, the Voth, the Tholians, the True Way, The Breen, and so on... Just the same, Gaardox had forgotten that could have meant she when referring to the Vulcan.
“I think I will contact the Admiral, and see if she can tell him something in Vulcan that we cannot.”
“Horg, I think he will agree with you more than you realize, this is just a stage in the development process and nothing other than that! You rebuild ships from the inside out, they build ships from the outside in-“
“Brother Horg, it is a differential in processing, be patient! We will raise hell with them if the redundancy cores and systemics are sub-par to current coordinations, Tuvok will do so also!”
“I…am scheduled to conference with him independently tomorrow.”
“So rest, today!” Allen takes the form of a younger brother to Horg when Gaardox is ungainly as an older brother.
“Scuba in the canyon? Sunbathing in the archipelago?” Gaardox enthuses.
“Processing subroutines, rerouting conversion ratios…” Allen proclamates.
“Hiking the sub-artic, hunting mastodon!”
“Redundancy rerouting, variable fluctuation coordinations…”
“Quark’s on Marsbase Sarah!” Gaardox proclaims angrily.
“Structural analysis given known probable, and unknown probable combat and navigational stress!”
Horg laughs hysterically. He never had the benefit of a younger brother, and this Human co-General of mongDech is of all things-that!

“Whatever Horg will do, he will do. He is mongDech. He brings glory to the revolution, he is Klingon.” Adamants T’Pol.
“Of cooourse.” Laments Gaardox, hating having to have played the devil’s advocate, embarrassing himself in front of a protégé of whom he deeply admires.
“Well, if Horg contacts Tuvok tomorrow, then I should think to have a diplomatic dinner with both of them that evening. You will say something cavalier and otherwise inappropriate about my appetite only being satisfied by two differentiating xenological males. I will claim your jealousy towards them. You will act wounded, as if you are defending your younger brother from my whims and whimsy, Tuvok will believe this is incomprehensible hilarity-“
“Just ridiculous-you understand the Dharma of the Klingon socio-unconscious T’Pol.”
“Dharma. No I had only thought of the Drama of the two brothers mongDech and nothing further I assure you.”
“It is systemic.”
“So – say – you!” Gaardox looks at T’Pol’s face, her stoic-ness. His battle-cruiser hurling towards Defari now days away from New Romulus, moving in speeds not thought technologically possible by him when he was only a warrior. He catches on a little late.
“I raise you ten quarter bits, I think you are bluffing.”
“Hahahaha! Okay Gaardox, you win this time, a human former mate has made me wise to your insights.”
“Only a Terran would be crazy like a fox!!!”
“Only a Klingon would eat hexapod Gaardox, what does that make you?”
“A – an omnivore? Does it offend you?” This catches him off guard, and again, he is a little behind the Ambassador.
“Twice in one day Gaardox, such a shame you are on your way to Deferi.” She softly admits.
“I thought the Martia shipyards were a key location of interest to my senior engineers for cultural tourism…Ayeee {*I*} haven’t created a ship-wide inquiry, there are not consensus results, I imagine at least five percent of my crew will transfer at Mars station.”
“At least five percent. Will not want leave. To witness for themselves…”
“The crux of joint engineering processes. Differentiating moments in careers…”
“No, their careers, take the money and save the galaxy, right?”
“You are worse than Allen at times – Heh!”
“THAT space-targ!” Gaardox swears to T’Pol that he will coordinate the results of his survey with her as soon as it is possible, and as his life mates are busy coordinating station affairs between Qo’Nos and the station of which Allen commands, Gaardox is naturally free to plan with T’Pol, a weekend alone. Just the two of them. Snowboarding on Olympus Mons. A favorite pastime for the KDF/Fed Fleet crewmembers, in a moment between continuing fleet routines.

Work in progress: Klingon Etymology on Facebook

Back in the mid-80s, a little rpg company called FASA produced a little game called STAR TREK-THE ROLE PLAYING GAME (and had Paramount licensing). Now, in the source books, this little sticker was called a "levek", but we know thru TNG, it had the name of d'k'tagh. Now, I learned all my history (at the time) thru the rpg (like many of you may have). So, my question is this, with nomenclature do you prefer-levek or d'k'tagh?

Darin BauerYou and 55 others joined Qo'noS: Klingon Empire within the last two weeks. One would seem merely like ceremonial, any knife, the other more akin to a KDF regular object. A quick internet memory alpha/beta search was not telling of a substantial differentiating etymology however. Keeping in mind of course personal memory [at a glance,] and more than a passing consideration for serial showcasing. I think the next step would be to look a little more closely at the language structure via KLI and see how usage dictates phenomenology, and etymological considerations. Any research criteria suggestions or further knowledge honorable ones?

Darin Bauer Is the personal in this case political? The personal often is in many other cases it would seem. In Klingon politics is can and/or may be more simple. However the usage; The bigger the smile the sharper the knife. The offspring of a Klingon is an adult the day that individual wields a knife. A running man/1000 throats/one night....[(!?!)]...[(Heh!)]... A sharp knife is nothing without a sharp eye... etc. In this case the proverbs seem more transmutable as morale and moral uplifts, and it might not seem political. [Even the best blade will rust and grow dull unless it is cared for. [(Could mean any bladed object.)]]

Michael McVeigh Umm...NO. Was just trying to ask older warriors and newbies which term they prefer using-politics had nothing to do with my post. Why are you reading into something that is not there???

Darin BauerYou and 55 others joined Qo'noS: Klingon Empire within the last two weeks. [In this case the proverbs seem more transmutable as morale and moral uplifts, and it might not seem political.] Inquiry: Does usage dictate political implications. Answer: Etymological constructs may vary however in this case, it is not always the case. Construct considerations for inquiry: I'm always interested in the political sociological considerations for all things Klingon, and that is MY personal preference.

Darin BauerYou and 55 others joined Qo'noS: Klingon Empire within the last two weeks. In order of English translated proverbs or paraphrased in short hand type: 'u' mon taj sharper [BING!!!!] {taj is knife, not a proper noun, further research may indicate the Klingon word for sharper or more sharp.} wa' taj 'etlh 'uchchoHlaHtlhInganpuqloD; jajvetlhloDnenmoj. {Firstly this original usage is sexist, so my English version is not, Secondly again, taj is knife.} qaStaHvISwa' ram loSSaD Hugh SIjlaHqetboghloD {cut merely implies a sharp device...} leghlaHchu'be'chughmInlo'laHbe' tajjej ... {knife again} ... So these proverbs offer nothing to the etymology of levek or d'k'tagh. So far my quest for knowledge has failed, and it might seem as if Klingons prefer not to use proper nouns when speaking sharply in a proverbial manner. That may however yield further clues, for now, it seems it must yield nothing.

A Field Guide to the Aliens of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Seasons one through seven. [2017]

Zine review by Darin

In the Spring of 1990 Los Angeles area resident Joshua Chapman completed a zine like object as a participant of a seventh grade English class. He and his mother survived the loss of his dad. His mother would otherwise have seemed to be effected by prolonged grief disorder, and / or the possibility is also that she may have had other problems as well, such as poverty, or other kinds of class, gender, economic [etc.] issues as a consequence also, maybe other mental health issues, but that is not indicated. What is clear however is that Joshua was encouraged to complete the assignment and continue it by his Junior High School Councilor, likely his English teacher, and perhaps others also as a cathartic process. Seasons two though seven were not necessarily educationally related, although he expressed distress and hopelessness towards Season Seven as he was anxious regarding his future and life after high school.
Unfortunately other than complete his zine project he also seems to have taken up self-harm, which as the time was diagnosed as a mental health disorder known as self-mutilation. He has thoughts of death and suicide. What is clear is that he hates his mother. This is a recurrent theme in the work, and the most unattractive.
Personally I have some relation to this on a few different levels. In terms of my own catharsis, and also my own research in the science of science fiction, a field known as Roddenburyism. I feel like my own mother, although a pioneer in the workplace of her day, essentially became a heartless capitalist. I love Star Trek, and although I was about four years older than Joshua and watched from 1987 on-wards, in my case beginning in very early high-school, recently I have also been harboring my inner child for answers in hopes of self-resolution and whatever possibility of science fiction writing I can observe for myself. I hope today's Joshua is getting as much out of the process for himself also.
Joshua maintains at least some level of honest unadulteration in his depiction of aliens through-out the body of work. His analysis is often at least rivaling that of startrek.com, memory alpha, and beta, and startrekonline/wiki. [His views are often quite hilarious.] A least in that he amazingly and often enough times has an innocuously accurate if simple consideration. Later on especially however there are more rants and less humor. When he isn't angry at his mom, I tend to agree with his analysis, however it must be understood that there are furthering socio-dynamics at work with these episodes, and sometimes he simply would seem to be otherwise unaware or uncaring of the larger issues of the science as depicted given their complexity, and the complexity of adolescence/post-adolescence in the later 20th century. He gets it pretty well more than half of the time I would say, and it is difficult to compete with cartoons, punk rock, anarchism, dungeons and dragons, video games and hormones. Through-out he essentially rates the aliens as a viewer. This can be very funny and interesting, and frankly even if relatively an unscientific analysis, a very informed viewpoint. I'll try to range my findings to give a broad enough interpretation of his efforts.
The Android Data, The Vulcan species, and The Borg [sentients zombified by a augment technological hive/mind,] are the only ones to receive five stars. [5*.] Joshua had a very tough time and clearly was enthusiastic in any enhanced abilities, especially emotionlessness, and showed some respect for logic. Cats are very high on his list. Data in his efforts to seem or become more humanlike had a pet cat which also receives a very high adoration by the young Joshua. Joshua loves his cat, but later in a stressful episode of angst lashes out at his cat, and then unfortunately, Joshua begins or continues self-loathing.
I have to wish that Joshua could have enjoyed the video game Star Trek Online, especially due to the fact that the felinoid species [plural,] Ferasan, and the Caitian, with their conflicting history and the eugenics committed to the Ferasan, by the Caitian could have been some kind of point of resolution for him. Yet possibly he still can if he so chooses should need be. In this case critics would argue either that eugenics is too mature a subject for children, and/or that a violent resolution is counter intuitive. Ferasan, largely siding with the Klingons in the 25th C. enacted revenge upon Caitian eugenic scientists, despite the results being the harboring of their more instinctive, tribal, and animalistic qualities, as designed as a hope for the longevity of the species. There were likely more side-effects and that fact was not given enough detail in STO in my opinion. Revenge is a dish best served cold, yet even Klingons must observe diplomacy. Joshua actually disliked bullies and the popular kids, and that is another theme in his writing.
Cardassians. Home Planet: Cardassia Prime. Episode: The Wounded. Rating: 4*. These aliens seem pretty sneaky, but overall they basically act like humans. It's not like how the Klingons are always super aggressive or the Ferengi are really greedy or the Betazoids are annoying losers.” He doesn't like empathy or empathic self-expression. His mom-hate gets pretty tiring.
Even though obviously European / seemingly providential Grecian/English actress Marina Sirtis who plays the Betazed empath and ship councilor on the Enterprise, it's type casting in some sense probably. Diana Troi, half-human, and Betazed is the daughter of a diplomatically relevant household. There is a sense of prominent socio-economics, just the same I can't imagine the Sirtis family is very amused by austerity in Europe, and they likely have a ton of sympathy for their fellow citizens. Honestly Marina has a humble background. Just the same Joshua hates her character considerably. The 'mother of Science Officer Diana Troi,' is actually a kind of obnoxious character [although its kind of funny,] played by Gene Roddenbury's wife, Majel Barrett, who is actually amazingly cool on so many different levels.
In this case what Joshua's animosity reminds me of is the episode when Dr. Beverly Crusher and Diana are talking about promotions during morning Yoga, and Diana decides to go for broke and become commander. The Lt. Commander is really going to have to work on it. Later in the episode, when Troi is doing the late shift on the bridge in order to have more command acuity, Commander Riker is leaving the bridge as she arrives and is rather dismissive; she's his long-time lover and future fiancée. So that's pretty troubling and that instance leads to another Yoga discussion. Riker has to keep a professional distance so that Troi can discover her own command structure / methodology [Prime Directive,] on her own terms [equality,] in accordance to the command structure guidelines of fleet activity within the United Federation of Planets' acclaimed Starfleet. Equality is a behavioral guideline [a kind of rule,] not an option.
Riker later in said episode would confide to Troi that he was actually troubled for the same reasons she was, yet he still had to act like a commander. Eventually they would both be commanders, at that point in the series Riker had given up on command opportunities to stay on the Enterprise. Eventually, they would both be Captains of their own command. The future is uncertain and who knows what a deep space long distance relationship must be like.
So yeah, to say the least young Joshua is missing points on contextual ratification. Most of the rest of these I derive from Joshua's Season six and seven. If you haven't noticed yet the alien briefs I'm transcribing from Joshua are going from best to worst first, then order of appearance, to the best of my ability.
Cairn. Home Planet: ? Episode: Dark Page. Rating 3*. A Cairn telepath is mind bending Troi's mom, Lwaxana. This is the episode where Joshua is making a breakthrough about his mom. Even though he doesn't admonish the mind-fuck, he explains the circumstances and in other species descriptions DOES acknowledge shitty rape cultural dogma and calls the species out on it. The complexity of this episode is that Troi is somehow psychically in Troi's mom's mind trying to find out why she is injured or whatever. Cairn aren't good at speaking because they are constantly telepathic. Lwaxana was supposed to help the Cairn with speech, but PTSD regarding her child who had died proved too much. In this description it would seem that Joshua could use the lame calamity of Troi in Lwaxana's brain as a physical metaphysical manifestation as a way to identify with his own problems with his own mom. His lesson is that women [I guess he supposes,] don't take care of bullshit. I'm paraphrasing. So the bullshit keeps getting worse. He's beginning to see that there is really some serious bullshit he needs to deal with in order to prevent more bullshit from happening.
Naric. Episode: Gambit Pt. 1. Rating 3*. “This guy is a mercenary on Arctus Baran's ship.”...“In general I think the darker a show is, the better chance it has to being awesome, which is why all the best episodes of Star Trek are ones like Picard being turned into a Borg, or tortured by Cardassians, or stuff like that.” Joshua likes pirates and talks about cartoons to make a comparative narrative.
Herkarans. Home Planet: Hekaras 2. Episode: Force of Nature. Rating: 3*. “These aliens have really weird forehead creases that make me uncomfortable. I don't know why but they remind me of vaginas. I know that's not what a vagina actually looks like, but still. They seem kind of sexual shaped to me.” There is an ecological concern regarding what might seem like conflict of interests regarding Starfleet's broad objectives. Josh sees a classist seeming overview. Another point of view is more relative to a strict adherence to the structural policy of the prime directive.
Atreans. Home Planet: Atrea 4. Episode: Inheritance. Rating: 3*. “These are aliens that have giant ears and are weirdly racist against Data.” He loved this show as a kid, but it seems like every show struck a nerve somehow. He loves Data, so A.I. discrimination is damning. It wasn't entirely clear if it was jealousy or admiration, or suspicion of technology or some kind of weird combination, based on how Atreans sound from what I can remember. In fact it might as simply be the Atrean’s way of taking Data seriously. [Or what is serious to them.] However xenophobic the Atreans, again Josh pits against his mom, by hating on Data's mom who in this episode is married to an Atrean. It could very well be that Data's Atrean step-father doesn't want trouble or something. Data is the only one originally that discovers that she is an artificial life form.
Boraalan. Boraal 2. Episode: Homeward. 3*.Borallans are primitive aliens who lived on a planet that was about to be destroyed because their atmosphere is going to disappear or something.” Worf was sent to investigate the planet, and his brother Kurn ends up marrying a Boraalan. Josh has a tiff about how Klingons don't seem to be observing the Prime Directive, and are showing favoritism. Kurn saves the tribe of his wife, but cannot save the rest of the species. So scientifically speaking this is an interesting episode because of trans-xenological corporeal genesis / sexual trans-xenological genesis. However, “The most fucked up thing though is that [Kurn] was spying on this woman for a long time before he had sex with her, and also that he is supposed to be a super genius, and she believes in magic and probably has never seen a toothbrush.” Observation of species is an important factor in the Prime Directive and first contact circumstances.
Corvallen, Episode: Face of the Enemy. 3*. “These aliens look like weird rock creatures.” Here Joshua is contextual and descriptive, even going so far as to incorporate Dungeons and Dragons and Choose Your Own Adventure Books. Joshua is also interested in magic and differentiates between spell casting and something more occultish.
Nara. Episode: Eye of the Beholder. 3*. “This alien has a weird looking forehead, but it's not nearly as fucked up as her nose.” I don't know why Joshua wants to go right back into sexist body shaming, but for the peaks of his humor of which I clearly haven't showcased … I mean he then seriously goes on to say that Troi imagines having sex with the Klingon Worf during the episode, and that is the least likely thing that would ever happen and then disses Troi again. My experience with Klingons is more like, “Let the Wookie win.” Joshua was clearly suicidal. The Klingon House of Mogue had not yet been granted honor...still, let the Wookie win. Daahmn....kid!
Barkonians. Episode: Barkon Twine Own Self. 3*. “The Barkonians are sort of a midevil times type of alien.” Data is the hero of this episode, but Joshua is not happy with the results of Data's away mission to Barkon 4. Like the Boraalan, the Barkonians are a Prime Directive sensitive species of empirical interest. Here I cannot help but think of comparable socio-historical archetypes. Just the same Joshua manages a descriptive and accurate consideration of the episode, up until a point of course. Here he seems to have a nervous breakdown of anxiety. “It can get worse. It never stops getting worse.”
Talarian. Episode: Suddenly Human. 2*. “These aliens are sexist and warlike, and even though they are constantly talking about how strong they are, when they are worried they make this really annoying whining noise like they are a bunch of stupid diaper babies.” A well-deserved two stars.
Maturin. Episode: Sub Rosa. 2*. Joshua has a wonderful description here of the neo-Scottish, neo-patriarchal, neo-colonialists. Solid fucking gold kid! Instead of ragging, he makes comparable suggestions for a better interstellar neo-colonialism. He also modestly disses the Maturin [criticism,] without causing any interstellar diplomatic complications. That kid had a future in Starfleet! It's nice to be proud of Joshua during a difficult time in his life rather than be concerned and frustrated.
Darsay. Darsay System. Episode: Masks. 2*. “...I think that once a civilization gets smart enough they should probably stop thinking the the sun is a god, especially if they have spaceships.” Data has a metaphysical journey in this episode, and works with Geordi to problem solve. Data becomes possessed by an ancient alien library of a former species that appears as a comet and takes over the Enterprise. Joshua has thoughts of atheism, paganism, and a separate consideration on schizophrenia / multiple personalities. Data did get five stars. It is enough for Joshua to admit that he thinks about schizophrenia, anxiety, and talks about self-harm. He is particularly lucid here.
Lumerians. Episode: Man of the People. 1*. “This dude is an asshole.” Lumerians channel their thoughts in certain ways. When the leading Lumerian channels negative thought to Councelor Troi, she gets bitchy. He talks about his passions for magic. He is interested in Wiccanism. He makes a comparison analysis with the comic The Sandman, and can appreciate the captivation of arcane imagery. He believes magic may be a catalyst for catharsis. He then goes on to say that the leading Lumerian had basically done just that. Joshua was so backwards sometimes. He was sooo right, and then sooo wrong. It is frustrating.
Haliian. Home Planet: Halii. Episode: Aquiel. 1*. “This lady is awful. I don't even understand how she got accepted into Starfleet. She is boring and annoying and irrational and the special effects makeup that lets you know she is an alien is just two tiny bumps on her forehead. [Engineering Commander,] Geordi falls in love with her, but whatever, Geordi falls in love with computer women all the time. That is basically his thing. Plus she tries to have weird crystal sex with him which is obviously a horrible idea because we JUST SAW the weird Lumerian dude cast spells this way like ten episodes ago.” [Like scared of a bad voo-doo result.] This time I have to agree completely with Joshua. It's been a long time since I've seen the episode, but a pretty big bell was ringing. I sort of just think that I can only hope for the longevity of the Haliian species after that. With the Haliian I have to wonder if this psychology is unique to the individual or the species as a whole. I hope she does okay, Starfleet always is recruiting new member species. The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few. Live Long and Prosper!
Kes/Prytt. Home Planet: Kesprytt. Episode: Attached. 1*. “At first we think the Prytt are going to be assholes and the Kes are okay, but then you find out that both of them are fucking stupid.” … “They just constantly shoot themselves in the foot because they are unwilling to let go of their paranoia, and anxiety, which is like the dumbest thing ever. All they have to do is not be paranoid and both groups would be fine, but they can't. They are assholes, and people almost die, and they can't even own up to the fact that it is their fault and maybe if they tried a little fucking harder things wouldn't be so bad, but instead they blame everyone but themselves. They just make things worse and then say it's the Federation's fault that this happen, but it was them. It was them and their fucking immature behavior that ruined everything.” With first contact there is no outlying guarantee that diplomatic successes will withhold. Joshua nails it with his somewhat juvenile rhetoric. I'm only leaving bits out of this one, but it is worth it if for the outside viewpoint of a frustrating and unsuccessful first contact mission. That's the thing though, there is no such thing really as long as the data is recorded and an honest attempt is made for the purpose of outreach. Again, 'keep it simple stupid,' is one thing, but 'stick to the science,' is also relevant for its similarity to simple, and purpose.
I know this is what you've been waiting for. It’s the worst alien on Star Trek Next Generation! Ronin the Sex Ghost. Episode: Sub Rosa. 1*. “There are a lot of things going on with this alien. His name is Ronin, and his is at least seven hundred years old, and he lives in a candle, and his is made out of anaphasic energy but sometimes he can take human form, and the way he gets food is by having sex with the women in Dr. Crusher's family.” This one has trans-xenological consternations regarding rape and rape cultural phenomenology / sexism. As interesting as Ronin's metaphysical behavior might be, Joshua condemns him for hundreds of years of rape and misogyny. I felt similarity about this episode.
Although I’m making a critique of the work of a young adult who lived in the past, there are some interesting considerations still to make. I’m hoping that an interview with the now forty year old Joshua will be enlightening, and my hope is that he continue the ‘zine to cover his now matured thoughts on all of the other Star Treks. The reason being is simply that his more juvenile activity was actually thought provoking and cathartic in some ways, and that that would be the point of Star Trek today. It helps us propel our imagination into new places for whatever good, for whatever reason. I want to end my critique with a look on where he may or may not have been descriptive enough in his body of work. His critique of Star Trek was bad or good overall. Young Joshua was either brilliantly descriptive if simplistic, or simply inadequate and lacking depth. I have three examples. A good point to make is how much better he was at it by the time he was preparing to exit high school, although at times to the loss of an unadulterated sense of humor. It can be assumed that overall his situation had not improved.
            Amarie. Episode: Unification 2. 3*.
“This alien works in a bar. She is sort of freaky looking, since there is no front to her nose, and she has weird things sticking out of her head. Also, she has four arms, which is probably why she decided to become a piano player. I think it would be pretty useful to have four arms, because then I if I broke one of my arms I would still be able to play video games with the other three. Sometimes I practice playing video games with my feet in case I do break on of my arms, that way I won’t have as much of a learning curve, but it hasn’t come in useful yet.” I was and still am way more into Klingons. I would have gone on and on about how she knew some Klingon tunes and how Worf has a good baritone, but overall Joshua was excellent enough in under embellishment in his description of Amarie the barroom pianist.
Bajoran. Planet Bajor. Episode: Ensign Ro. 4*. [Circa 1994.]
Bajorans were aliens that had built impressive cities tens of thousands of years ago.” This is a Yes / No, as far as descriptive critique is from the younger Joshua that we by now must have some empathy for. Here he was both descriptive, and not descriptive enough. Ensign Ro is a rebel, and she eventually secedes from The United Federation of Planets, and joins The Maquis. This didn’t occur until later. There would be three episodes in STNG with this involvement. The Maquis are extremely relevant to the development to the later series, Star Trek Voyager. However, Voyager had not yet become a series, and would not be released until the following January.  The previous January Deep Space Nine had been released. For some reason Joshua did not relate the importance of their ancient spiritual beliefs, and how that relates to Bajoran bureaucracy. He did describe in a fairly well manner the fact that Bajor had been de-occupied from the Cardassians, and with a lot of help from the Federation. Here there are series of cross overs that he did not approach or for some reason didn’t bother with. There is a species etymology here that is incomplete and although I at first wonder why, despite his love for Ro [he mentions that she is a badass,] it becomes clear. After describing the occupation of Bajor, he makes a comparative analysis of The Crucible, where the Wizard decides there is no explanation worthy of the early American colonists, so as the Crucible Wizard is pressed to snitch or admit something, the Wizard simply tells them off, and is pressed by stones, more and more every time. [I hated the Wizard, and thought he was just another sad Patriarch, until the end,] The sad thing is [this is Episode Five, there are two more seasons and one more zine at this point,] is that this analogy is contiguous with the pressures that Joshua must tolerate as he accelerates into post-adolescence. About sixty percent of the review is his own analysis comparatively, and the rest is Ro or Bajoran. His critique of his mother might otherwise turn off the observer to his abilities as a writer and to any positive acclamation that he may have gained by following the series.
In these ‘zines Joshua somewhere shows a normative tentative young adult consideration regarding sexuality. There have been a few in my critique, this is likely another. In his first school assignment that started his zine process [the first was hand written, and at least another had use of a dot matrix printer,] Joshua described Data, but more importantly the relationship between Data and Lt. Commander Natasha Yar. Yar died. The alien that killed Yar is likely tied with the rape monster [‘Sex Alien,’] in his ratings. Joshua was mad. Data and Yar would have been the all that couple of the galaxy in Joshua’s mind at the time. However he is unable to acknowledge that a Yar/Troi coupling would have been just as good, if not completely better in a unilateral manner. [Horizontalism, intersectionality.] It is at least clear that Joshua put a lot of effort into this and had a lot going against him, he might not have been capable of thinking of all the angles, no one is.

mongDech goes to Quark's in San Francisco [short story]

Zaoden of Andoran, Ta'an of Vulcan, and Gaardox of Qo'Nos got a table together at Quark's in San Francisco. Zaoden got a house porter, special to the region. Ta'an ordered a gin mint julep. Gaardox decided to sample the porter also. Discussion ensued regarding their tenure at Starfleet Academy and how it would not be possible for them to enjoy each other's company outside of the 25th century diplomatic systemic fleet protocol initiatives. Realizing the gin mint julep was a stronger drink, Gaardox complimented Ta'an on his virtue regarding mixology. Zaoden, an Andoran with a decent sense of humor chuckled at Gaardox's politeness. These Admirals and the general often fleet together and professorship is a nice break from normative duties. One thing that was noted was how diverse the applicants were this year, and how inspired they seemed, and ambitious! One cadet had just finished from the KDF Academy on the homeworld on Qo'Nos, and essentially desired trans-stellar xenological compliance in all areas, not simply as a career move, but as a method to quench curiosity. There was a Denebulan who had just finished at Vulcan Science Academy, and decided that fleet would be the wisest application for her new found knowledge. Another KDF Academy graduate decided to do one year at Vulcan Science, and another at Starfleet, then go back to Vulcan, and again Starfleet, in order to be the most well rounded. The officers were as inspired by their students as they them, and it seemed a libation was due at that time at the end of the week. The Ferengi bar tender at Quark's in S.F. was a little nervous to have them there, but offered freeze dried plantain and cashews just the same. Zaoden offered wisdom regarding how bravery is good for business. Ta'an simply offered a nod to that thought. Gaardox inquired of Ambassador Quark. The bartender couldn't understand, however the general was able to surmise that the Ambassador's location may have been secreted due to security purposes, and that seemed to create a polite impasse and offer some sense of confidence to the Ferengi, for which both the Vulcan and Andoran could appreciate. Gaardox understood other species discomfort with Klingons, and decided to simplify the situation. Not really interested in another week of multidimensional metaphysics, and how that applies to fleet phrenology, the three were easily interested in a second drink. As the Ferengi took the order, he noticed the Starfleet Academy notarized 'smart,' books essential to Academic duty, and asked no further questions. Using intuition and the general amicability of the triad, the Ferengi reversed the order. This time Ta'an could try the porter and the other two could enjoy the gin mint julep. It's an old bartender trick when the bartender realizes he or she is in the company of old friends. The Ferengi was also a Academy grad, and he moonlights for his family at Quark's when not committed to essential fleet duty. "Besides, otherwise I would miss Earth!" That is a typical come on line that only really applies to Quark's employees, but the triad laughed anyway, and since their laughter was genuine the Ferengi got them started on a game of domino's right away. Listening to the jukebox, playing dominos, eating freeze dried plantain and cashews, having a drink with friends. None of the officer's students were likely having as much fun, for morale purposes they would have to invite the inquiry regarding 'what they did over the weekend,' to ensure students have normative Academy experiences.

Klingaformation: Klingon permaculture; a phenomenology.

House of Mong-Dech Permacultural Update:

Klingaformation on the Home-World has reached new proportions. Qo'Nos is considered a 'survived,' planet, to which there are fewer to compare for a direct analysis within the local stellar neighborhood. Only the less populated areas are under our care and scrutiny for now until secular modality may effectively occur. Local permacultural-distribution has fallen to those constitutancies. With little exception local populations are free to co-opt the Empirical perma-cultural projects for the sake of their own secular functionality. Science/Botany/Bio-strata exchange programs, and "work to learn," programs, along side with food justice and bio-carbon encapsulation are likewise facing endemic standards.

One example of our most recent daunting tasks has been proven to be the Klingaformation of an out lying community specifically peripheral to the Capital City of Qo'Nos, the area known as Burq-Zur. [FN1; This is the namesake of the half-Cardasian, half-Kling Captain Qot Burq-Zur Mong-Dech.] For a very long time mercenarial forces of corporate oligarchic entities [FN2; There are also many other competing Klingaformation projects at work at this time. Most however do not require major arbitration.] have used this small community of mostly private and secular, engineers and scientists as a proving ground and had always planned to create a stronghold there. This conflict has been ongoing since before the K'mPec-Gowron civil war. Theoretically conflict as an impediment was the rationale for not posting a larger contingency there. With the need for milder micro-climates so incessant, conflict there is quite a concession to progress.

The major creation of an aggressive bio-active bio-mass in which to create a more living soil, and thereby a more temporate climate zone has once again been off set by various factions. Progress here is slow, yet we have had controlling wins in most such battles up to this time, with a conscientious ratio of cautionary encapsulation of those mercenary forces, with fewer casualties as a result. Like similar projects, large bio-mass compiled from many stellar locales such as The New Romulus separatist planet, our own Khittomer, and H'atori [where botany research has given us so many great strides,] Federation systems and elsewhere is proving to detoxify, recreate or intensify a living soil, and begin to harbor microbiotic entities and other small creatures in efforts to allow for eco-re-genesis.

Other planets such as Negh'Var and Vor'Cha are slowly approaching the secular perma-cultural districting, and massive joint, KDF, KOF, Federation, and Romulan perma-cultural efforts continue as also Gorn, Ferasan, Naasican, Lethean, Orion, and even Federation worlds! Current inner-stellar diplomacy includes efforts with the Cardasians [They have been tentative in joining the Borg-Initiative Protocal Bio-alliance,] and other species including our allies in the Delta, and Gamma Quadrants and elsewhere. Also there are efforts to Klingaform planets in some stellar systems within reasonable habitable zones which do not or barely support life.

Research in bio-spheres on small moons, toxic gas planets and so on are expanding in these places in order to create more hospitable zones. Pre-toxification of bio-matter in such nurseries [Even those on Class M planets as it is common practice,] as is those on our home-worlds nurse hundreds of thousands of varieties of bio-life in order to place them to an accordingly hostile atmosphere to which this botany have been pre-conditioned.

Qo'Nos will be a green planet in our life times! We will miss the desertification and its extremities somewhat, hopefully terribly so. Science, animal-husbandry, [and Biology,] Botany, and arborist employments are still not met. We offer better than adequate nutrition, advanced warrior training, academic education*, housing and fair employment. [FN3; We also provide adequate sanctions for the young and families with a very progressive program.]

Klingaformation efforts have developed greatly over the last four hundred years. "Climate Control," was originally referred to as the resulting effects upon a planet besieged by Klingons. Massive atmospheric toxification and gaseous detritus created a need for bio-engineering. What this means is that our planet life support systems needed to be developed, and less desirable members of the Empire were moved to the more difficult planets or regions before their abilities could be fully recognized. With the advent of the KOF [Klingon Occupation Force,] against economic inequality and for equal rights, non-discriminatory [all-gendered, all xenological…] right to work, learn and all other social equity such as right to live honorably, and even, strangely enough, the right to fight like a Klingon [FN4; A much historical civil rights conflict…such as others are also…] have changed the way geo-engineering and permaculture, Klingaformation, has been developed and transpired.

With almost universal failures with geo-engineering, the "Greening," of class M atmospheres and bio-tropes seems to have less to do with planetary climate control and more to do with simply creating a cloaked planet. Many habitable Klingon planets have this 'green tinge,' in their atmospheres and whatever critics say now, the greening tinge effect is inert, and up to this time completely non-toxic, and lessened soil loss and bio-matter loss due to climate extremity. Factually the tinge does impede orbital surveillance by all counts classified, never the less humidity atmospheric alerts will endure us for at least the next sixty solar rotations as the tinge density often exceeds even our tolerances. Extremities in weather patterns seem to have lessened in concert with continuous perma-cultural deployment. It is also predicted that the inert green atmospheric supplementation will gradually sub cede as the planets oxygenate by way of extenuated bio-mass. In sixty solar rotations Qo'Nos will seem much like Earth did near the time of their year 2060, as many class M planets have a "neutral" phase of bio-regenerative atmospheric recompensatory development.

This is the classic phase in which scientists endure the doldrums of the slowing results of perma-cultural reconditioning. We use Terra as an example; it is a good example because they have had fewer "base" worlds in which to augment their existing ecological synthesis originally.

After the Khittomer accords Klingons began cultivating bio-mass from Khittomer to Terran, and other Federation worlds, as well as our own. Khittomer is a harsh world with a primeval bio-mass, however it was at that time considered critical to create a multi-platform of eco-synthesis. As a result of that and other similar forms of eco-integration, Earth had a shorter "neutral-phase," by no means however the shortest, neither will that be true of Qo'Nos. For most worlds however, we only are predicting a shorter than normal "neutral phase," of eco-re-genesis, however the resiliency of these worlds considering the abuses put to them and the painfully slow bureaucratic to eco-recovery processes, as we begin and halt these programs over time, the time spent with the bio-regenerative atmospheric recompensatory development, regenesis is shorter, the time that kept us apart from it is not, in fact we aren't even the worse cuprit as the Romulan and Federation wars against one another was far worse, their colonial greed and destruction is equal to our own as ignorant as it must be. Not all species will be as fortunate as those in the Klingon Empire. One of the Denubulan habitable class "N," worlds had been predicted to be unrecoverable some time ago and now speculation on that planet's odds towards eco-genesis expand to that beyond the comparable range of their local stellar neighborhood by some remarkable degree. [FN5; Denubulan over population is well documented.]

We still do not know if class N planets can be altered permanently, yet the sciences still consider this. Some time ago it was thought that class "O," planets would always be considered widely uninhabitable, yet we now know that this to can change.

Planetary bio-mass "growth nurseries," continuously ship and receive botanical varieties. Eco-regenerative-synthesis modeling is now a completely new scientific art form. We have developed and refined this methodology and our allies and enemies alike have joined in this process, in special accordance to the 24th C. Borg Initiative Diplomacies. In five hundred years time we may be rid of the Borg threat in the local stellar neighborhood, if not the galaxy itself.

Quality of Targ was a major issue during the Km'Pec / Gowron civil war, and it is now! Yet due to advanced agricultural and animal husbandry efforts which coincided with eco-restoration, degrees of increased quality come from the timing and placement of the herds in question, and not due only to a corporatocracy manufacturers degree of 'quality control.'

Secular 'victory farms' [Further Trans xeno-husbandry,] has seen remarkable results and has contributed greatly to our Targ resurgence. Over population continues and with detoxification perpetual hunting for sport and for commercial purposes has been possible for quite some time now, mostly with thanks to Mong co-allied factions. Our herds are strong and many scientists can spend more time on other aspects of eco-recovery as economic trans-xeno husbandry has reached a new apex of viability. [FN6; However true as this may be our oversight committees within science, ecology, economy, social equalities, and of course the histrionic 'quality controlling,' are all in a seemingly permanent stage of fluxuating congress.]

No thought of eco-synthesis, or very little thought had occurred to the Klingon Empire until the Khitomer accords. This is a minor misnomer, however a common enough miscalculation. The various factions compiling the Klingon corporatocracy created an extremely toxic environment on the original home world. Yet quality of life had become so odious there, colonial expansion so commonplace, and systemic inequality so rampant it seemed that we were either a doomed species or on the verge of a very nullifying inner conflict. [FN7; There is great speculation and analysis on this subject within the alliance of the House of Mong-Dech.] Many Klingon societies on a great many planets have felt and endured this speculation, however differencing their perdue may be.

Special efforts had to immediately be made to preserve the new world and begin research on Klingaforming the other habitable zone planets within and extraneous to the Empire. Many Klingons remember the immunization processes with no gratitude or appreciation whatsoever. Thanks to KOF and its allies however, eco-revolutionaries and other trans-planetary Klingons are treated graciously like diplomatic heroes, a morale change demanded by the House of Mong-Dech and its allies, co-authored by Gowron and Martog. Travel between our worlds is currently less demanding psychologically speaking.

Onto preservation efforts again, Khitomer botany was not immediately recognizable as co-compliant to other planetary ecosystems. Scientists, bureaucrats, specialists, consultants, diplomats, and leading oligarchs all had their own prejudices. The scientific method (much to the astonishment to all parties,) was dictated by K'mPec as an absolute methodological determinate-we are still in compliance to this despite the current considerations on its organic evolution as a science, and also absolutely because of all imaginable considerations however valid they may or may not be, which has lead ultimately to a scientific prerogative to comply with speculation so not to garner superstitions, and to create consensus and thus harbor conscientious intuitive Klingaformation and agriculture.

Eventually, and not without consulting from the Mong-Dech House and others, bio-spheres were used to nurse botanicals to be eco-adaptive to specific alien climates, as previously noted. We must take care to remember that the brothers Mogue and Mong-Dech, their systemic allies, and such as that of many others were not old enough to be warriors during the evacuations of the Praxis Klingon Home world. "The accumulated trauma that such unnatural disaster created has in turn created a very large contingency against crimes of an ecological nature in modern times. In turn also, Klingaformation. WE are very serious about all of our efforts to this effect, and how Klingon corporatocracy created disasters that can mold us into revolutionary eco-warriors." [Mong-Dech/Km'Pec/Martog diplomatic accords, 2434.]

"The process of Klingaformation therefore has been an unprecedented success. Privatization and Empirical eco-bio-conditioning [in turn with systemic economic ecologically related tax redemptions,[1]] has proven to largely become an element of civilian life among Klingons. [Larger contingency should there to fore be thought to create a larger ecological genesis effort also.] The responsibility of our well-being as sentience belongs to us completely, and the Klingon Empire recognizes this right unconditionally." [Ibid.]

"We fight to preserve ourselves!" [FN8; This adage has a very exhaustive and complex history within Klingon social-history. See Grong-Dox-Gaar's research on military epiphany from the 24th Century.] This is the motto of The Bio-House of Klingaformation, an inner-planetary house, independent and co-habituated within and extraneous of the Klingon Empire, which now holds a seat in the Klingon High-Council. Scientists, political advisors, ecologists, all use the consensus model of the Klingon Occupational Revolution and subsequent civil war to create / use their voice within Klingon existence. 300 years ago this would have been a process of extremely volatile debate amongst Klingon variant faction. Today largely in thanks to the atonement as mentioned by Km'Pec, the volatility usually only reaches renown in that there is not a history of this high council seat (The Bio-House of Klingaformation...) and that has not been publicly known in some regards...all proceedings prior to the creation of this seat is largely considered history enough, for now.]

"Bio-synthesis has reached the High Council." This was proclaimed in a joint party (political and philosophical,) effort by the so named House of Anonymity, which is renown in Klingon revolutionary circles and to the Kling public. Transparency and privacy can be reached by all in all efforts of sustainability, possibly in our own lifetimes [Science regarding Klingon longevity not withstanding...] and sooner than we think. [Acknowledgement to the technological and communications revolution is very intentional, as is the references to popular efforts towards existence equality made and maintained by revolutionary Kling forces, and honored by the high council at threat of civil unrest, or any furthering confliction, and digression.]

Already community consensus groups regarding [Kling] co-districting within our regions and areas of geo-habitation. [FN9; Ibid: Km'Pec / Gowron post-civil war / accords. See also Gowron eco-probate Kling civil eco-habitus, and sadly enough, Gowron / Martog accords, as well as the on-going Martog eco-probatum Kling civil eco-habitus. (Hella' Occupy merge with KOF and the development of The House of Mong and co-allied factions such as 'The Klingon Alliance.') All as mentioned are yet another entirely exhaustive research parameter in relation to Klingaformation efforts. One of the most iconic of which being then KDF allied then Captain Gaardox Mong-Dech's provision of enormous ancient growth foliage used as a battering ram against the Qo'Nos City of Och-Nos Civil Empirical Corporate head-quarters, and subsequent raid. During the Klingon Occupy civil war trophies of such botany during eco-Klingaformation efforts, thwarting corporate interests to the contrary-in such an event overstock occurred from the beleaguering of the revolutionary alliances, creating a form of 'creative resourcefulness' (out-sourcing.)] This in turn addresses our collective thinking and allows us with variant demographics upon with we may create the most conscious decisions with the concerns of ecological eminence facing us now in the 25th century.

Eco-synthesis agricultural models sequester toxicity within our Empirical planetary habitus. Tran’s stellar micro biotic entities are "seed-bombed," upon Klinga-cognito primus with a rich conglomerate mulch / topsoil mix in order to do the same. Eventual introduction of fauna creates the apex of eco-synthesis - all of these processes contribute to our survival, ensuring our herds are healthy and fecund, and all warriors stronger.

Elsewhere in the local stellar neighborhood "Klinga," is a word that means "savage," "destructions," and "eco-/genocide." Klingons are known by the trails of blood behind their wake. We now constantly surprise our allies and enemies alike with our trans-stellar eco-fusion and our insistence in creating an honorific variant for science to create and teach further comprehension of these, further and on-going eco-synthesis processes here within the Empire and elsewhere with our Klingaformation. [FN10; Inner alliance, inner treatise mutual aid / trans-fleet/xeno/stellar officer exchange programs notwithstanding.] The Borg threat is a tasty enemy of the Empire, and very likely to unify the galaxy to deborgify them. The Borg Initiative Protocols and subsequent annexations thereof not withstanding will be considered an Empirical imperative as it is an extension of the adopted prime directive of the Federation, as it is our own as well. Qa'pla! We DO live to fight another day, the needs of the many DO outweigh the needs of the few; for the Borg EVERYDAY is a good day to de-Borgify, their Borgification is utterly and completely FUTILE. The fecundity of ALL sentient home worlds work to disavow all Borg effort. That is all for now.
